Ben Folds Tour 2020:Singer-songwriter Ben Folds has announced a new batch of solo tour dates across America taking place in October. The 9-city jaunt will be making stops in Memphis, Waukegan, Ft Wayne, Green Bay, Madison, Kalamazoo, Cincinnati, Winston-Salem and Greenville. Prior to the tour, he’ll be teaming up again with CAKE for another major co-headlining tour in September. The singer recently joined forces with Violent Femmes earlier this summer.

Back in 2017, Folds embarked on his Paper Airplane Request Tour which followed up 2016’s 33-city tour across North America. The prior year, he launched a huge tour with chamber ensemble yMusic which supported their 2015 collaboration album ‘So There’. The album includes eight chamber pop tracks and a piano concerto with the Nashville Symphony. Ben Folds and his popular alt-rock band Ben Folds Five spent the summer of 2013 touring North America in their Last Summer On Earth Tour joined by Barenaked Ladies and Guster.

Audiences of all ages will have a chance to see Ben Folds perform his hits LIVE with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

Folds is widely regarded as one of the major music influencers of our time; a renowned pop artist as well as a critically-acclaimed classical music composer, and best selling author. For more than a decade he has travelled the globe performing with orchestras, and in March he returns to Melbourne for a special evening with the MSO.

“I grew up playing in orchestras, so being on stage with one feels like home to me,” Folds said. “When I take to the stage I don’t demoralize the orchestra by bringing along a loud rock band and grafting high volume. In these concerts, the orchestra IS my band. When I perform with an orchestra, I tell audiences that I’m expressing myself through a different form than what they have come to expect in a rock show, a form that happens to be done by people who are among the best musicians on the planet and who do it all the time.”

Over the years, Folds has created an enormous body of genre-bending music that includes pop albums with Ben Folds Five, multiple solo albums, and numerous collaborative records. His last album was a blend of pop songs and his Concerto for Piano and Orchestra that soared to #1 in the US on both the Billboard classical and classical crossover charts.

In May, country superstar Sara Evans joined her 19-year-old son Avery and 16-year-old daughter Olivia on the road for a mini-tour in support of an EP they had recorded. Billed as Sara Evans with the Barker Family Band, the Bloodline Tour emphasized family harmony, musical comradeship and an eclectic set of cover tunes along with compelling original tunes. Live From City Winery Nashville, an LP capturing the last of the tour’s dates, will be released August 30th.

Fueled by mother-daughter harmonies and Avery Barker’s guitar playing – which has also been a part of Evans’ solo shows – the album also features a guest appearance from California’s Fairground Saints on the closing cut, an update of Evans’ chart-topping “Born to Fly.” Other highlights include covers of tunes by Beyoncé (“XO”), Fleetwood Mac, (“Dreams”), Crosby, Stills & Nash (“Southern Cross”) and the Judds (“Why Not Me”). Olivia Barker takes the lead vocal on several tracks including the Chris Stapleton hit, “Tennessee Whiskey,” and a jazzy take on Stevie Wonder’s “As.”

With the release of this document of their live show, Evans and her Barker Family Band have, according to the singer, capped their short-lived career. “It’s just a one-time thing,” the singer told Rolling Stone Country last spring. “Olivia is in the process of starting her career and she’s already really busy. Avery, too. He won’t be playing guitar for me too much longer because he has his own stuff. But it’s been kind of funny. I keep saying that Olivia and I are the Judds and we’re all like the Partridge Family. But there will not be any sort of continuing of the Barker Family Band. We named it that to just to be funny, like the Carters, like Beyoncé and Jay-Z.”

The Zombies are an English rock band from St Albans, consisting of founding members Rod Argent, Colin Blunstone, alongside Steve Rodford, and Tom Toomey, best known for hits such as She’s Not There, Tell Her No, and Time of the Season. Soren Koch has stepped into play bass in lieu of the late Jim Rodford.

Formed in 1962, the band released their debut album, ‘Begin Here’, which contained the #2 Billboard Hot 200 hit She’s Not There. The band released their second album, ‘Odessey and Oracle’, in 1968, which contained the #2 hit Time of the Season, before disbanding in 1967. They reformed in 1990, releasing a new album, ‘New World’, in 1991, followed by ‘As Far as I Can See…’ in 2004, ‘Breathe Out, Breathe In’ in 2011 and their latest release, ‘Still Got That Hunger’, in 2015.

The Zombies have unfortunately had to deal with the tragic loss of their bassist and longterm member, Jim Rodford in January 2018, but are still soldiering on.

The Zombies are set to tour North America in 2019, co-headlining with Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys. Catch them live by checking out the tour dates and concert ticket information below on Stereoboard.
