Billy Idol Tour 2019

Billy Idol Tour 2019! Born in Middlesex, UK, Billy Idol was a child of punk, first fronting the band Generation X before becoming a worldwide, MTV-generation star in the 80s.

After packing in the English degree he was working towards at Sussex university, in 1976 Billy joined up with The Bromley Contingent, a group of Sex Pistols fans who went on to have an impact of their own after it formed Siouxsie and the Banshees and Generation X.

Billy became the lead singer of Generation X and made no attempt to hide the fact that they were going to do things a bit differently from other punk acts. Whilst peers such The Clash and The Sex Pistols wrote off the 60s pop of acts like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, Generation X embraced it as their primary influence. This pop influence allowed them to become the first punk act to be featured on Top of The Pops and the band released 3 albums before disbanding.

This freed up Billy to pack his bags, head to New York City and pursue a solo career. Fusing his punk image with a hint of glam, Billy soon began to pump out the hits with songs like ‘White Wedding’ becoming an MTV staple. Billy unintentionally found himself becoming a part of the ‘Second British Invasion of the United States’, a period where numerous British acts found great success overseas fueled by the relatively new platform of MTV.

With the release of his next album ‘Rebel Yell’, Billy’s transformation into international super star was complete. Today he still plays sold out arenas globally and is a testament to what a young punk from Middlesex can achieve.

Tame Impala Tour 2019

Tame Impala Tour 2019! Formed in Perth, Australia, Kevin Parker’s Tame Impala have helped to bring psychedelic sounds floating back into the 21st century.

Kevin Parker bounced between a number of acts in the Perth scene before some home recordings he posted on Myspace under the name ‘Tame Impala’ earned him some label attention, eventually going on to sign a deal with Modular Recordings.

A self-titled EP was released in 2008 which had some success in the Australian Independent charts and even garnered some radio time for singles like ‘Half Full Glass of Wine’.

After enlisting the help of a few other musicians including Dominic Simper on bass and Jay Watson on drums, Kevin and Tame Impala spent most of 2008 and 2009 touring and playing shows with the likes of The Black Keys and MGMT. This all led up to the release of their debut album ‘Innerspeaker’ which was a huge success not only in their native Australia but the UK and US too. A ‘Best New Music’ title from Pitchfork was just some of the praise the album received, also picking up awards for ‘album of the year’ from places like Triple J.

This momentum carried through into the release of their follow up album ‘Lonerism’ which represented an expanding sound for the band and far eclipsed the successes of the previous album. Its release was met with universal acclaim and went on to be dubbed the album of the year by the NME and other publications and even got a Grammy nod.

Now they are a live and festival staple meaning more and more people are witnessing the transition Tame Impala’s music makes, from the mind of Kevin Parker to stages around the world.

Tame Impala is Kevin Parker – the almost legendary messianic figure and creative soul who has developed the particular sonic universe of psychedelic pop cultivated with guitar pedals, delays, reverbs and liquid explosions of color. There’s no one like him in the current music scene. We were left in 2015 with Currents, Tame Impala’s third album which ventured further into the pop genre, and added dance beats and R&B that only served to underpin the enthronement of the Australian. For his fourth album, Tame Impala remained true to his usual impenetrability and stands silent, but we have seen him parade through a number of collaborations: he has shared the studio with Mark Ronson and SZA, he has produced Lady Gaga and Travis Scott, Rihanna covered him on her latest album, he has remixed Mick Jagger and Miguel and has released songs with A$AP, Rocky, Theophilus London and ZHU. So what does all this mean? Well, we know what Tame Impala has been until now, but we haven’t a clue what will happen next. And that can only be a good thing.

Onerepublic Tour 2019

Onerepublic Tour 2019! OneRepublic are an American pop-rock band originally from Colorado Springs, Colorado (US). They formed in 2002 and have been active ever since.

Originally achieving commercial success through MySpace, founding members Ryan Tedder and Zach Filkins formed the band and released their music online unsigned. In 2003, OneRepublic travelled west and played shows around the Los Angeles, US area. They added keyboardist Drew Brown, bassist/cellist Brent Kutzle and drummer Eddie Fisher to the line up in the process of playing their initial live shows, and were consequently approached by many different labels interested in them. Ultimately they signed with Velvet Hammer (an imprint of Columbia records) whose roster now includes the likes of Coheed and Cambria, Deftones and System Of A Down.

OneRepublic’s sound, however, can no longer be likened to the aforementioned bands on the Velvet Hammer label as their music has seen more mainstream rather than alternative success. With collaborations with producers like Timbaland on what is arguably their biggest hit to date, “Apologize,” remixed and recorded in 2006 and featured on Timbaland’s album “Shock Value,” OneRepublic have safely secured themselves fans of popular rock music. They were also dropped from Columbia’s label around this time and signed to Timbaland’s Mosley Music Group.

“Apologize” appeared on their debut album, “Dreaming Out Loud” in its original form in 2007. The remixed version of the song had record radio plays in North America (it was played 10,394 times in just one week) and this record was only beaten by the single “Bleeding Love” by Leona Lewis, which, coincidently, was also co written by OneRepublic front man, Ryan Tedder. The other hit single from their platinum debut album is “Stop and Stare,” which saw almost equal success as the previous single.

OneRepublic’s second album “Waking Up” was released in 2009 and reached the top ten on Billboard Hot 100 in the US. Singles from this album included “All The Right Moves,” “Marchin On” and “Good Life.” However, the band’s third album, “Native” was more successful than all their previous efforts. Released in 2013, “Native” reached the number four position on Billboard 200 album chart and its third single, “Counting Stars” was their most successful single from the album, reaching number one positions in Canada and the UK, number two in the US and top ten positions in various other countries.

Nickelback Tour 2019

Nickelback Tour 2019! Nickelback is a Canadian rock band composed of lead guitarist and lead vocalist Chad Kroeger, rhythm guitarist, keyboardist and backing vocalist Ryan Peake, bassist Mike Kroeger, and drummer Daniel Adair.

Nickelback, formed in 1996 by Chad Kroeger, is an Canadian mainstream post-grunge rock band hailing from Hanna, Alberta, in Canada.

Before forming Nickelback, frontman Chad Kroeger had performed and developed his songwriting and guitar playing in cover bands across the small town of Hanna in Alberta, Canada. Fed up of the small town life and playing other people’s songs, with money borrowed from his stepfather, the musician moved to Vancouver and recorded hit first set of original material.

Before long bass-playing brother Mike Kroeger added to his talents to the band along with guitarist friend Ryan Peake and drummer Ryan Vikedal. The name Nickelback refers to Mike Kroeger’s time spent working at Starbucks where the bass player would tell his customers “Here’s your nickel back” when handing over change.

Across the nineties Nickelback released the two albums, the “Hesher” EP and the full-length “Curb” to limited commercial and critical appeal. However the release of “The State” in January 2000 highlighted the band’s intentions for mainstream success, aided by the Canadian radio stations content requirements, leading many local stations seeking out local Canadian artists. Following the album Nickelback toured relentlessly, performing over 200 shows.

With major label backing the band’s subsequent release “Silver Side Up” was a raving success, debuting at No. 2, in large due to the success of the No.1 single “How You Remind Me”. The early part of the 2000s was a period of smooth sailing for the band. In 2002 Chad Kroeger contributed the single “Hero” alongside Josey Scott of Saliva, to the soundtrack to “Spider-Man, followed by Nickelback’s next full-length “The Long Road” released in 2003. The album reached No. 6 in the chart and was led by the No. 7 hit single “Someday”. Whilst proving popular, the band came under heavy criticism for the similarity of a number of their songs.

In 2005 the band released their fifth studio album “All the Right Reasons” to much the same multi-platinum sales and Modern Rock hits including the No. 2 “Photograph”, “Savin’ Me” and “Rockstar”. The album proved to be the band’s most popular and was followed by the albums “Dark Horse” in 2008 and “Here and Now” in 2011, which was led by the singles “Bottoms Up” and “When We Stand Together”.

After issuing a their first compilation “The Best of Nickelback, Vol. 1”, their last release on Roadrunner Records, the band released their eighth studio album “No Fixed Address” featuring the radio-friendly “What Are You Waiting For?” and the politically-edged “Edge of a Revolution” in 2014.
