Victoria Christina Hesketh (born May 4th, 1984), A.K.A. Little Boots, is an electro-pop songstress from Lancashire, UK, known for her powerful soprano voice and use of a Stylophone in her performances.

Throughout her youth, Hesketh developed a passion for music, learning several instruments and training classically as a singer. At the age of sixteen, she even auditioned for ITV’s talent competition, Pop Idol, reaching the third round. However, it was during her studies at Leeds University, UK that Hesketh was to start her first foray into popular music, after joining the disco-punk act Dead Disco, taking the position as lead singer alongside Lucy Catherwood (guitar) and Marie Franceon (bass). The band were quickly becoming a minor success, selling out venues and appearing at Leeds Festival. But for Hasketh, she wanted to pursue her own musical direction, leaving the band in 2007 to embark on a solo career.

Finding influence from the likes of The Human League, Pink Floyd, Britney Spears and Captain Beefheart, Hesketh began creating music under the moniker of Little Boots, recording her first releases with Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard and Greg Kurstin. Her first single, “Stuck on Repeat,” became a club hit, finding fans through its infectious pop. Her debut full-length, “Hands,” arrived in 2009, reaching the number five spot on the UK Albums Chart. The album was also successful in America, debuting at number seven on the Heatseekers Albums Chart.

Having released several mixtapes that displayed her DJ talents, she returned with her second album in 2013, with “Nocturnes,” a record that achieved a more raw, direct sound, moving away from 80s synth pop towards greater influence from electronica and disco. The album debuted at 45 in the UK albums chart, selling over 2,000 copies in its first week. The album featured the production talents of Simian Mobile Disco’s James Ford and Hercules & Love Affair’s Andy Butler.
