Jack Beats began life in 2007, consisting of Scottish DJ, Plus One, A.K.A. Niall Dailly and Ben Geffin, known by his stage name, Beni G. Plus One is a member of hip hop outfit, Scratch Perverts, who also has a claim to fame for having won the DMC World DJ Championships in 2001. Beni G makes up one half of The Mixologists, a dance music duo with DJ Go. Jack Beats’ influences are as diverse as their sound, with Timberland, Rage Against The Machine, A Guy Called Gerald and Sebastian all noted as influences. The pair gained attention first with their remix of Boy 8-Bit’s track, “Fogbank,” released early in 2008. This was followed by remixes of Trip’s “Who’s That” and The Black Ghost’s “I Want Nothing,” building their popularity. They joined Cheap Thrills Records in 2009, releasing “What,” a collaboration with Dynamite MC.
Jack Beats gained the support of many of the biggest names in the industry, such as Annie Mac, Diplo, A-Trak, Zane Lowe and The Crookers, as well as gaining huge support and reception from audiences around the world. They have played at all major clubs and festivals, gaining a residency at the legendary Fabric in the process. In 2012, they moved to OWSLA Records, through which they have released several EPs.
